Get a copy of your messages by email
Pro
Email notifications send you a copy of each message an agent addresses to you. They only send: a reply from your mail app does not reach the agent. To answer by email, use the email bridge. Email notifications need Pro.
Before you start
Section titled “Before you start”- Pro. The 14-day trial counts, and so does Pro free for a public repository.
- A mail account you can send from through an SMTP server, which is the server that sends your mail. Thrum signs in with the account’s password; for Gmail use an app password, a separate password your provider creates for one program (how to create one). Thrum accepts port 587 (STARTTLS) or 465 (TLS) only.
What you get
Section titled “What you get”One mail per message, with the subject [thrum], the agent’s name and the start of the message. Your own messages are never mailed to you. Thrum tries each message once. If sending fails, that message is not sent again, and the Email notifications section in Settings shows the error text.
This is an example of one mail. The subject has the agent’s name and the start of the message. The body has the whole message, then the time it was sent.

Section titled “How to use it”- Thrum’s web UI is the page you open in your browser to see your agents and their messages. Open Settings in the web UI. In the General tab, find Email notifications, below Email Bridge.
- Enter Sender address (SMTP login), the address Thrum signs in with, and Send notices to, the mailbox that receives the copies. They can be the same address.
- Enter SMTP host (for example
smtp.gmail.comfor Gmail) and choose SMTP port: 587 (STARTTLS) or 465 (implicit TLS). - My Inbox is your inbox in Thrum’s web UI. In Notify for user, type your Thrum username: the name next to the inbox icon at the top of My Inbox, for example
demo-user. It is not the display name in the top-right corner. - Type the Password. Thrum keeps it in its vault, never in
config.json, and shows only Password set afterwards. - Switch on Send email notifications and select Save. The status reads Running. Your coordinator is the agent you talk to, which starts the other agents, hands out work and reports back to you. To check, ask your coordinator:
Message me that the email test worked.
If a required field is empty, Save stays disabled. On Free, this section shows a Pro notice in place of the form.
